Visiting Aboriginal Sites

Visiting Aboriginal Sites

Visiting sacred sites involved in ceremonial practices is not acceptable, even if the site is not being currently used by Aboriginal people.

Most Aboriginies believe that the ancestral spirits still guard these areas, they protect them and have the power to harm any person that disturbs, destroys or disrespects them. Many people become sick from visiting sacred sites.

There are some sites however that are not viewed as sacred. These may be visited with the approval and guidance of local Aboriginal people only. This must be left to the discretion of those significant members of Elders within the Aboriginal community.
